On this page will be period photos from
the 80's showing Recce Platoon elements while on exercise in Germany and the UK.
Special thanks go to Geoff Wood, veteran of both 2 and 10 Para during his
service time, for the use of these photos.

Geoff in his Land Rover while on exercise in Germany

The above images are also from the German exercise.
Note the hessian (burlap) rolled on the front and sides of the Rover, it would
be unrolled to hide
the shadow that would be under the vehicle when in a stationary location.

A cam netted Rover.

A series of images showing a flight of CH-47's coming
into a landing area for a pick up.

End Ex, waiting for pick up to take them back to
quarters following another successful exercise.

Above are some pre jump images
showing rigged light order.

Above left shows the DZ from
the ground up with jumpers descending. To the right is a picture of a debrief
being conducted.

Two images of an exercise
conducted in a FIBUA (Fighting In Built Up Areas).

5 more Land Rover images, the 4
above showing good views of the recce Land Rover minus personal kit, and the
bottom image shows the worst way to spend the post INDEX (End Exercise) time.
